Below you will find Lesson 1, part A of the Holy is He Who Wrestles Worldview Repair Course. These lessons will span multiple posts and eventually be compiled into a book and made (hopefully) into both audio and video forms. This is my attempt to compile what I have been writing and saying over the years into one easily digestible volume, in the hopes that some might be helped.
What it is:
Worldview Repair is a metaphysical blue-collar service. You have plumbers to come fix your pipes, electricians your wires, and Worldview Repairmen, such as myself, to fix cracked and broken epistemological foundations. This course, taken seriously, will break down your view of the world as it currently stands and attempt to resurrect a new, better view of it in its place. A view where things are not Hell. A view where existence is not evil. A view where all of the morose complaining of the existentialists and those who say that Life is pain seems patently absurd. It is my attempt to help you glimpse a sliver of Heaven. It is my attempt to help you finally be happy, and finally find peace.
How it came to be:
This project is the result of my own Worldview Collapse and subsequent fall into Depression and Despair. Raised in a sheltered Evangelical environment and confronting the modern world as a young man, I found it impossible to square my beliefs in God, Truth, and Meaning with the standard model of Reality as taught by secular culture and academic institutions. Thrust into the business world, and finding the modern approach to work both dehumanizing as well as objectively immoral, and forced to navigate both platonic and romantic relationships in a world seemingly devoted to making other people cheap and disposable… I had a psychotic break. I fell into a three-year long bout of Depression that drove me to the brink of suicide in which I almost lost everything to the chaos of Anguish and Desperation.
At the time I did not know it, but what was actually occurring during this period was that my “source code” was being rewritten. Slowly, but surely, the way I saw and related to everything in the world, including myself, was being altered. Changed. Tweaked into something just out of phase enough with everyone else to be familiar, yet also radically different. I have called it a “collapse into mysticism.” A sinking down into the deepest pits of Hell and finding, miraculously, that even there in utter blackness a pure light could be seen.
I would like to give that to you. If you want it. I would spare you having to go through the same process I did to get it.
Who it’s for:
The Worldview Repair course is for anyone suffering from an inability to believe in God, Truth, Goodness, or Transcendent Realities. It is for anyone suffering from Depression or toiling along in a malaise of ennui because their life seems meaningless. It is for those who used to believe and would like to again, and for those who have never believed but would like to try. There are of course no guarantees, and I am not claiming to have the magic words to cure all your woes and ills. I can say however that it’s worked for me, and that it’s worked for others I have shared it with. Over the years, numerous people who’ve read my work and listened to my podcasts have reached out to thank me for helping them reconnect with a higher power. They are most welcome. Perhaps it will also work for you.
What to be aware of:
This course is not easy. There’s no homework involved nor is there any test but it does ask you to entertain wild and seemingly implausible ideas. To place yourself in never before attempted states of mind. To that end, my work takes quite seriously many things which are “fringe” including the paranormal, the supernatural, the conspiratorial, and the miraculous. I do not want anyone to feel cheated or duped so, if you do not think that a course that asks you to, say, reconsider your views on 9/11 or numerology, please be advised that it is probably not for you. Additionally, while I believe the material provided will be beneficial to anyone of any faith seeking to reconnect with the “something higher”, my own personal faith is Christianity and the teachings of Jesus, and this work is carried out completely through that lens. Again, no disrespect and no worries if that’s not what you believe, I just want you to know what you’re getting into.
Why it’s behind a paywall:
Because I write and speak about religious things and claim to be wanting to help people, some (understandably) consider it hypocritical to ask for money when I do so. Much respect to that point of view. I have held it for a long time myself and, sometimes, still do. However, I have had to face the inescapable conclusion that work of this nature simply does take a large portion of my time and, in order to continue doing it while raising a family, I do have to ask for some amount of renumeration now and again. The good news is that, if you do not have the ability or desire to pay, most everything I talk about in this course has been and will likely continue to be discussed for free on my podcast The Mystical American Patriot’s Society, although, admittedly, in a much less concise, organized, and professional form.
With all that out of the way, if you think you might have a damaged Worldview, if you’d like to try and find God again, or if you believe there’s something very wrong with the world but can’t quite put your finger on it…
Then I’ll see you behind the paywall.
