On Rape Islands
In 2019, give or take, the world found out there was a rape island in the Caribbean.
Perhaps you remember.
Rather suddenly, it was revealed that numerous high-profile politicians and businessmen had been in cahoots with a certain Jeffery Epstein, a man who somehow, on a teacher’s salary despite having never earned a college degree, owned an island. Although he was eventually arrested, before he could be tried and asked questions about his affairs in a public forum, Epstein, somehow, died in prison.
Officially this was a suicide.
People questioned this a little though because, again somehow, the cameras that could have watched anyone going to or from his cell conveniently malfunctioned on the night of his death. Additionally, Epstein was said to have more or less hung himself, and it is unusual for prisons to provide inmates with the materials necessary to do this. You know, you need somewhere to hang the rope from, and you need rope, and most prison bedsheets are thin and rip easily specifically to prevent them from being used as strangulation weapons.
Anyway, that was the story. Suicide.
As time went on though more and more of the story trickled out. As it happened, Epstein hadn’t been acting alone. No. He’d had a girlfriend. A woman named Ghislaine Maxwell whose father had been accused of working for foreign intelligence agencies and who’d been found dead floating in the ocean. No red flags there. Also, bizarrely, Epstein’s island had a temple on it. That was strange. Eventually it was further revealed that Epstein had already been convicted for the sexual abuse of minors way back in 2008 but had somehow only served thirteen months before going right back to jet-setting around the world with the rich and famous. Unsuspicious. Moreover, the acting Attorney General for the Trump Administration at the time, as it happened, just by extraordinary coincidence, had in 2009 worked for the law firm that defended Epstein in 2008. The law firm which helped him get off so easy for his alleged crimes against no less than thirty-six girls. Wow. Small world. You know, the Attorney General being the one able to bring the law against anyone that might have been involved, also working for the people who defended the worst sex trafficker in the country’s history.
*Shrug*
I guess it was just one of those things.
Anyway, all of this was very interesting and very damning but, ultimately…
Nothing happened.
That was the truly amazing thing.
Apart from Epstein and his girlfriend, nobody went to prison.
Nobody was arrested.
Nobody lost their job or their money or their social status in polite society.
Nobody was impeached.
Nobody questioned whether or not their government might actually be evil.
…Nobody cared.
In the days and weeks following these revelations, American society kept on keeping on. Chugging along as it always had. Apparently largely nonplussed about the fact that all those kooky conspiracy theories about the “elites” being engaged in some sort of sex trafficking ring apparently had some basis in reality.
It was, from my point of view anyway, sort of surreal.
Of course, I was somewhat prepared for it. One cannot exist long in the conspiracy space without becoming jaded. If you’d come to me in, I don’t know, 2013 or so, and asked, “Hey, Yoshi. How do you think the public would react to learning that global power structures involve secret cabals of pedophile rapists?” I’d have probably responded with something like, “Oh… I doubt they’d very much care.”
Even so.
The level of indifference on display when it actually happened was jarring. Even to me.
Life just went on. The same talking heads kept appearing on the same News Stations. People continued to fret about the stock market. Online discussions continued to revolve around Free Speech and Gun Rights, going nowhere, just treading over the same arguments again and again, walking well-worn circles. The War in Afghanistan continued apace, and still seemed important, which was ironic because we would leave in a few short years and everyone would instantly stop caring. And most bizarre of all… everyone still continued to talk about voting.
You know, as if in a system where rulers went to rape islands that could ever possibly matter.
What? Were people under the impression that it was just those other guys in the secret cabals? Just the republicans or just the democrats? Was everyone really that stupid? Did anyone really think that the folks in D.C. just didn’t know about the whole rape island thing? Could anybody imagine that the scandal caught the entirety of Congress by surprise? An international sex trafficker is flying about with the likes of Prince Andrew and Bill Clinton and Tony Blair and we’re just supposed to believe it was all a complete secret? Nobody else knew? The Royal Crown, the people that worked in the White House, the folks back in Hollywood who had invited Jeffrey to their parties…
None of them were little suspicious?
Is that what We The People believed?
Really?
Of course, none of this is new.
In the past the U.K. had its own Epstein. Jimmy Savile. Maybe you’ve heard of him. He died in 2011 at the ripe old age of 84, completely avoiding any temporal or earthly justice for his crimes. Savile was “in” with the Royal Family, one of Britain’s most prolific charitable fundraisers, a ubiquitous media personality on T.V. and radio and, also, every bit the goblin that that picture makes him seem.
Again, none of this mattered.
He was Knighted for goodness sakes.
According to London’s Metropolitan Police, Savile was connected to as many as 589 victims of sexual abuse, many of whom were children. Yet, somehow, despite a plethora of witnesses and accusations, many made publicly during his lifetime, none of the evidence for Savile’s crimes came to light until he was dead. Bringing it up while he was alive sometimes landed a person in hot-water or, at the very least, lead to one being marginalized and cut-off from public discourse. It was almost like Jimmy, an average citizen holding no elected office, nonetheless wielded some sort of power to silence those who spoke out against him. A power that evaporated the moment he was dead. What that power was we can only speculate but, if one was a sex trafficker rubbing elbows with many of Britain’s “elites”…
Well.
One might wonder if there were video tapes.
One might wonder if there was blackmail.
Again, I don’t know for sure…
But as I say… it’s almost like that.
Anyway the long and the short of the English case is the same as the American one. Nothing happened and Nobody cared. And again, I can only speculate as to why. Perhaps the implications of asking questions like, “Hey… where did a guy like Epstein get his money anyway?” or, “Is it possible that the upper classes in Britian really had no idea about Savile… especially considering that Prince Andrew was later revealed to have hobnobbed around with Ghislaine on trips to Thailand?” were just too scary. Perhaps the imagined answers to those questions were just too dark. Whatever the reason, The British public by and large continued to carry on as normal, pretending their democracy was intact and their leaders somehow still respectable. Tory vs Labour. Grrrrr. Arrrr. Everybody get mad about it. Keep pretending it matters.
And then of course we have the Vatican.
Need I say more?
In my opinion the evidence that there’s a secret unelected power structure built on enticing leaders to have sex with children, secretly filming it, and then using that film as blackmail to control them… is pretty overwhelming.
Definitive?
No.
But in my opinion there’s a lot of smoke for there to be no fire.
I mean, think about it. If you were to try and gain power… if there was an organization like the famed “Illuminati” trying to control the world…
